CHALLENGE: WMD squared was challenged with organizing and optimizing DelTank’s design department files. DelTank was looking for a data management system that would allow customization for customers while maintaining a standard product line. They needed a simple CAD library but wanted to be able to make subassemblies that would suit customers needs. General part numbering and drawing templates needed to be cohesive. Inventor files needed to be accessible within their ERP system.
APPROACH: WMD Squared sent two engineers over to DelTank to interview designers and investigate their workflow. After a good understanding of DelTank operations, our engineers selected an appropriate CAD data management software. A part numbering system, revision control, and overall workflow was created. Engineers helped upload and get DelTank’s library running while helping make revisions along the way as problems presented themselves.
IMPACT: DelTank now has a working ERP system with all of their product data at their fingertips. This helps them in sales and customer satisfaction as well as efficiency in their design department.
